A quick word from god6/11/2023 ![]() The doctor slices you open not to inflict as much pain as possible but to heal you. Think about a doctor operating on a malignant tumor. And that is exactly what it takes to break free from sin. It exposes the true motives and intensions of our hearts. God’s Word does not open us up physically it opens us up spiritually. Just like Alexander the Great’s sword sliced through that Gordian knot, we need the Word of God to slice through those wrong thoughts that lead to the wrong actions that enslave us. We are bound up in all these sins that stem from wrong thinking, and we try everything we can to break loose. Or we think revenge is the best way to deal with mistreatment, so we are bound up in bitterness. Or we think sexual purity leads to boredom in life, so we are bound up in immorality. Or we think money is the answer to everything we need in life, so we are bound up in greed. ![]() We think we are responsible for our well-being therefore, we are bound up in worry. ![]() Wrong thinking leads to sin, and sin leads to slavery. “By what a man is overcome,” 2 Peter 2:19 says, “by this he is enslaved.” You know what you are enslaved by today–it is whatever sin you cannot say no to in your life. Sin is like a cord that wraps itself around our lives and strangles the life out of us. You see, the Bible says all of us are enslaved by sin. I think of that story every time I think about Hebrews 4:12: “The word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Instead of unraveling the knot, he took out his sword and sliced it in two. One day Alexander the Great came to town. Do you remember the story of the Gordian knot? The legend went that whoever was able to untie this complex knot would rule over Asia. Third, God’s Word also possesses the power to heal us. This week, we have seen that God’s Word has the power to save us and to guide us. If you’ve been waiting and praying, just know that God knows exactly where you are and He will absolutely make your situation beautiful in time. The word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. God makes everything beautiful in its time. I pray that if you are going through something right now, that these words have encouraged you. I’m so thankful that we can turn to the Word of God when we feel we need to be uplifted and encouraged in our spirit. God, Give Me A Word | I Need A Word From God When I read those words it was like a weight lifted. I read in chapter 3 where it talks about the seasons and how there is a season for everything we go through.Įcclesiastes 3:11 “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” When I began flipping through the pages of my Bible, I felt that I needed to read in the book of Ecclesiastes.ĭo you know that feeling that you get when the words on the page seem to jump out at you and you know instantly it’s what you needed to read ? I began to tell the Lord that I just needed a Word from Him when I read the Bible. Of course, I read the Bible every day but I wasn’t reading anything that I felt was for my situation. I want to share with you a way that God chose to direct me through the Bible to speak to me just when I needed it. When God Gives You A Word Have you ever had that feeling that you need God to speak to you through His Word? There have been so many times when I have read a passage and walked away thinking “I did not know that I needed that so badly”. Yes, there are times when He uses a person to speak into our lives, or there are times when He will speak to us personally about situations.īut we must get in the habit of opening our Bible and believing that God is going to direct us through His word. It’s simple, yes, but we often feel like there should be a sign that is put right in front of us when God just wants to speak to us through the Bible.
